The Cawl Spoon is a traditional Welsh design. It can be used as either a cooking or eating spoon. There is a reason spoons like this have been carved and used since before the Roman Empire. The lines of the handle and the shape of the bowl are elegantly simple, but it takes a lot of practice and skill to carve them just right - the selection of wood is also very important to ensure a strong, smooth spoon that really feels right in the hand and the mouth.
